Abstract

This study presents a critical edition of the manuscript Mukhtaṣar Sīrat al-Rasūl (Abridged Biography of the Prophet) authored by al-Ḥasan ibn Aḥmad al-Jallāl, who passed away in 1084 AH / 1673 CE. The study comprises an introduction, two main sections, a conclusion, and a bibliography. In the introduction, the researcher discusses the significance of the Prophetic biography (Sīrah), the rationale for selecting this particular manuscript, as well as the adopted methodology and research plan. The first section provides a concise study of the author and the historical context in which he lived. The second section focuses on the edited text of the manuscript itself, in which the author offers a summarized account of the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the major events that occurred during his lifetime. The research emphasizes adherence to the essential principles of scholarly editing, including verifying the authenticity of the manuscript and its attribution to the author, cross-referencing the events mentioned in the manuscript with primary historical sources, and providing explanatory footnotes to clarify names, places, and obscure terms. The study concludes the necessity of paying greater attention to the Islamic scholarly heritage by identifying, editing, and publishing manuscripts in order to extract the various sciences and disciplines they contain. It also points out the importance of the Prophetic biography (Sīrah) as the second primary source of Islamic legislation, and the need to critically edit and publish works written about it, in order to preserve the historical legacy of the Muslim nation and instill love for the Sunnah in future generations.

الملخص

هذه الدراسة هي تحقيق لمخطوط مختصر سيرة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم « للحسن بن أحمد الجلال المتوفى سنة 1084 ه / 1673 م، وقد اشتملت على مقدمة وقسمين رئيسين وخاتمة وقائمة المصادر والمراجع، وقد تناول الباحث في المقدمة أهمية السيرة النبوية وأسباب الاختيار ومنهج البحث وخطته، وأما القسم الأول فقد تناول الباحث فيه دراسة موجزة عن المؤلف وعصره الذي عاش فيه، والقسم الثاني كان عن نص المخطوطة وتحقيقه والذي ذكر فيه المؤلف مختصر عن حياة نبينا محمد r وأهم الحوادث التي حدثت في عهده، وكان العمل يركز على أتباع أهم خطوات التحقيق العلمي من التأكد من صحة المخطوط ونسبته للمؤلف، وبيان ما ذكره المؤلف من حوادث ومقارنتها بالمصادر وتعريف بالأعلام والمواقع والكلمات الغامضة في الهامش.
